Traditionally, they were grown at high elevations above 5000’ in the woodland forests of the Northern Sierras where tree growth was naturally regulated by the short growing season. That’s why Silver Tips had sparse even branches with the nostalgic open look that defined the traditional Christmas tree.
We don’t cut Silver Tip Christmas trees out of alpine forests anymore. Instead, we opt for a more environmentally friendly approach and produce a vintage style Christmas Tree on our family owned and operated Christmas tree farm in Oregon. Our natural style Noble Fir and Nordmann Fir are grown from high mountain seeds and are botanically very closely related to the Silver Tips.
Elegant by nature, our natural vintage style Firs have soft blue-green needles on open layered limbs which makes these trees perfect for showcasing traditional glass and heirloom ornaments.
