5 FAQs About Christmas Trees – 2025

The holiday season is almost here! We know choosing the perfect tree can raise lots of questions, from fragrance to freshness to decoration tips.

Here are the answers to the most common questions we get this November.

Pro Tip: You can order online now for delivery once the season officially starts and make sure your holiday spirit starts early.

What type of tree smells the best?

Douglas Fir is the most fragrant, thanks to its higher moisture content. It’s less hardy than Noble Fir, so to guarantee freshness, Douglas Firs will arrive December 1st.

Our Silvertip-style Noble Firs are Oregon Tilth Organic certified, meaning they use biological controls instead of synthetic chemicals. Other trees follow environmentally friendly growing standards, using natural methods first and food-grade treatments only when necessary. Any residues fully degrade long before the trees reach our lot.

Fresh-cut trees have a “best by” window, similar to flowers or produce. For optimal freshness on Christmas Day while still enjoying plenty of time with your tree, we recommend putting it up the first weekend of December.

  • Vintage/Nostalgic: Organic Silvertip with glass-style ornaments, faux candles, and snowy tips; or Douglas Fir with tinsel and multicolor lights for an ‘80s–‘90s vibe.
  • Modern/Metallic: Premium Noble Fir with gold, bronze, or champagne-toned ornaments and ribbons.
  • Nature-Inspired: Douglas Fir with woodland elements like acorns, birds, felt ornaments, popcorn, and pinecones.
  • Oversized or Statement Ornaments: Organic Silvertip Firs have naturally spaced branches to let large ornaments shine.

We’re opening the day before Thanksgiving for the first time ever! Douglas Firs arrive the 1 st of December due to their shorter shelf life. For trees staying up past Christmas, consider refreshing them around early–mid December.
